Coppélia - the girl with the enamel eyes

A couple of times in the past few months I've realised that I'm not the only one who would like to go to the ballet every now and then.

Here's the next show from the West Australian Ballet Company. It will probably set you back around $40 for a fairly good seat but it's in May, so you have plenty of time to save your pennies. Here's the write-up:

With her wicked sense of humour, Chrissie Parrott has choreographed one of the most memorable and humorous versions of this ballet ever to grace the stage.

The dream of an eccentric toymaker to create a doll (Coppélia) so lifelike as to confuse reality provides the perfect opportunity for a clever girl to teach the one she loves a lesson he will not forget.

But true love prevails, and with romance in the air the final act of this fresh and innovative ballet features a glorious and unforgettable wedding scene.

Coppélia features the stunning music of Leo Delibes and magnificent scenery by internationally acclaimed designer Andrew Carter.

Chrissie Parrott last worked with West Australian Ballet in May 2006 when she choreographed the blockbuster work A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
